Only because no moment can last
The future becomes first present, then past
So plan for tomorrow and use today -
Is that not the sensible way?

Only because time cannot stand still
We follow, as we always have done, and will
So sigh for tomorrow and breathe for today -
Is that not the natural way?

Only because we must move on
Do we sense the past and all that is gone
So hope for tomorrow and live for today -
Is that not the original way?

Only because of time and place
Do we know of our journey through space
So look for tomorrow and gaze on today -
Is that not the intelligent way?

Only because of time's constant flow
Do we accept that we come and must go
So dream of tomorrow and wake up today -
Is that not the obvious way?

Only because time is on track
Do we know it will never come back
So wait for tomorrow, not yesterday -
Is that not the logical way?

Only because this moment is real
Can we think and reason, hope and feel
So invite tomorrow and welcome today -
Is that not the friendly way?

Only because this moment came
Do we know for sure not two are the same
So search for tomorrow and find today -
Is that not the meaningful way?

Only because we are not aware
Do we never have a moment to spare
So work tomorrow and reflect today -
Is that not the creative way?

Only because we are here and now
Can we describe this moment - but how?
So ponder tomorrow and examine today -
Is that not the thoughtful way?

Only because the moment we live
Is when we choose to do good and give
So save tomorrow and share today -
Is that not the ethical way?

Only because right now we exist
Can we count our blessings and make a long list
So pray for tomorrow and give thanks for today -
That is the spiritual way
